Porgy Changes
Scup or porgy fishing has been extended until December 31st.
Fishing has finally picked up from shore. We have had a very slow 6 weeks or so, but last Friday with the change in temperature, we had a big change in the surf action. Anglers were cathching from Watch Hill Lighthouse, all the breachways and the local beaches. Monster blues and 20 pound bass were being weighed in. Albies were flying all over the reefs in Watch Hill. Big seabass are being taken off the ledges all over Block. Black fish are becoming more visable too.
With the cooler nights coming back we hope to see even more action from the beaches.

Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers AssociationThe 2011 recreational regs for Black Sea Bass in Rhode Island have been set: 13 inches, 12 fish/day and open July 11 to December 31.
Hello All
Well we are off to a very slow start. Schoolies are showing up at the regular places, like the west wall and the cemetary. There have been some pick ups at Quonny Pond early mornings. Nothing too big, but a landing of any fish right now makes for a great day. Squid are in the pond, and bunker is showing up too. ( WE have fresh bunker in the store, as well as mummies.) We won't be starting our Mad Fisherman's Contest until June, but we have in-store contest Quonny versus Wickford Rod Works. Quonny holds the plaque from last summer. Anyone interested in fishing that tourney should drop by for details. There isn't a entry fee. It is surf only.
We were asked last year for sweatshirts, well they are here. Special -T Shop did a great job. We have a new wooden local lure called Sea View Lures. A great variety. New this year Al Gag's Whip It Eel, Rebels, Yo-zuri squid gigs, Jeros Tackle squid jigs, Suffix Braid, B Brothers Rods, Penn's new Battle reel, to name a few. We have free bait lockers. They are limited, so if you are intrested give us a call
This weeekend is RI's Spring Fest. Look for the link on tour home page.
The store hours will increase weekly, so check out the website for the changes.
Bye for now,
Keep those knees a knockin
Robin
